As you age, your teeth age right along with you. However, just like you can keep your body fit as you age, you can keep your teeth healthy, too. How do you do that, exactly? Wyandotte Family Dental is glad to give you some pointers.
-First of all, remember to brush and floss your pearly whites every day. That may seem like a no brainer, but many of us neglect these simple tasks, so a reminder is always helpful. After all, this is the single most important thing you can do to maintain oral health as you age.
-If you have any bad dental habits, such chewing on ice, pens, pencils, your nails, or other hard objects, or if you are addicted to tobacco or other drugs, stop now. The older you get, the more wear and tear your teeth will receive from such habits.
-Stay hydrated. As we get older, our bodies do not retain water as well as they once did, and the medications we take don’t help. The more hydrated you are, the more saliva your glands will be able to produce and the cleaner your mouth will be. So drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
